Born of ancient yoga tradition, the chakras are now an alternative source of energy for a new age. But what are they? Where did they come from? And how are they useful to us today ?What are Chakras? Chakra is a Sanskrit (ancient Indian language) word, meaning wheel or vortex. Chakras are energy centers that exist in the physical body. They function as valves directing the flow of energy through our system. Chakras are not physical, but rather aspects of our consciousness. There are seven major chakras within our body, arranged vertically from the base of the spine to the top of the head. They are Chakra One (root or base chakra), Chakra Two (sacral chakra), Chakra Three (solar plexus chakra), Chakra Four (heart chakra), Chakra Five (throat chakra), Chakra Six (brow chakra or the third eye), and Chakra Seven (crown chakra). Each energy center represents an emotion or psychological state such as power, love and imagination, and each is linked to a color. Using colored gemstones or crystals helps to strengthen the association with the state you may be seeking. For instance, red crystals, associated with the first chakra with grounding as one of its goals, may help you to feel more stable and connected to earth and the material world. There are many other correspondences, which help us to understand the essential nature of each chakra, and enable us to work on chakra balancing to unify our entire being— body, mind, spirit, soul. Chakras and yoga philosophy. The chakra system originated in India, and is linked to the ancient yoga masters. The origin of yoga and the chakras goes back to the Vedas, the oldest written Indian texts. In the 7th century, the chakras became an integral part of yoga philosophy.Yoga philosophy maintains that there are thousands of chakras throughout the body, but seven of them are major importance. All seven chakras occur in Sushumna Nadi, the Shining Pathway that begins from the crown of the head, down through the base of the spine. At the base of the spine is Kundalini (root chakra). Kundalini is the “mysterious power within.” Ancient yoga philosophy holds that by that living our lives engaged in the process of self-discovery, we awaken Kundalini and activate its upward flow through Sushumna Nadi, leading to an awakening of individual potential andcomplete enlightenment.

We all are born with the ability to communicate with God and the angels through our natural gifts. Additionally, we can enhance these gifts by practicing using them, affirming that we wish to communicate with God and the angels and paying attention to what we receive. Although we have the ability to use all of the following methods, it is common to have one primary means of communication with a secondary strength as a backup.
•Clairvoyance (clear seeing) – seeing fleeting images and colors, dreaming vividly and intensely, recognizing symbols and seeing repeated number sequences, seeing a scene in your mind before it happens – clairvoyance is the act of seeing with the mind’s eye.
•Clairaudience (clear hearing) – hearing a strong voice in the mind warning of danger, the familiar unexpected notes of a loved one’s favorite song when thinking of them, or hearing a song or overhearing a conversation which gives you exactly what you need to hear. The angels are letting you know that they are around and protecting you. You may also hear angel messages outside your mind just as you were talking to someone directly in front of you.
•Claircognizance (clear knowing) – knowing information with no idea how or why you know, information given to you in your mind just exactly when you need it. Many intellectual people are claircognizant.
•Clairsentience (clear feeling) – intuiting things that are coming, getting gut feelings about situations, perhaps preceded by or accompanied with goosebumps, chills, nausea, heat. An empathic person can literally feel the emotions of others. When communicating with angels, trust what is felt, seen, known and heard, as the angels are providing important instructions about the soul’s life journey.
What’s Your “Primary Clair”?
While the angels talk to us in a combination of the four ways—visions, feelings, thoughts, and sounds—one of these channels is strongest for you. We call this your “primary clair.” The other three clairs amplify and augment this primary means of angelic communication. You’ve probably heard that some people are highly visual, while others are more auditory or kinesthetic, and so on. These individual styles reflect how you take in the material world with your physical senses, as well as how you receive and notice Divine communication. To discover your primary clair, think about the following scenarios and then answer the question (choose only one response for each):
1. When you initially meet someone new, what’s the first thing you tend to notice about the person?
a. The way the person looks, such as clothing, hair, teeth, shoes, or general attractiveness
b. How you feel around the person, such as being comfortable, amused, safe, and so on
c. Whether you find the person interesting, or believe this may be someone who can help you out in your career
d. The sound of the person’s voice or laughter
2. Think back on a vacation you took. What stands out most in your memory?
a. The beautiful sights of nature, the architecture, or something that you witnessed
b. The peaceful, romantic, restful, or exhilarating feelings associated with the trip
c. The important and interesting cultural and/or historical information that you learned while traveling
d. The sweet silence, the crashing surf, the chirping birds, the rustling leaves, music, or some other sound
3. Recall a movie that you truly enjoyed. When you think of that film, what comes to mind first?
a. The attractive actors and actresses, the lighting, the costumes, or the scenery
b. The way the movie made you laugh, cry, or moved you in some other regard
c. The interesting plot, or the life lessons that you or the movie’s characters learned during the story
d. The musical score or the sound of the actors’ and actresses’ voices
Note your answers to the above questions. Most likely, you’ve answered two or three questions with the same letter, which signifies your primary clair, or the dominant way in which you process information about the physical and spiritual world.
This is what the answers mean:
Mostly “a” answers signify clairvoyance. You’re a highly visual person and are likely to notice how people, places, and even meals look before you focus on anything else. You’re probably very artistic; or if you’re not creative in this way, you have an excellent eye for putting together wardrobes, interior design, and such. Visual harmony is important to you, and you appreciate anything that’s pleasing to the eye. You probably see sparkling or flashing lights when angels move around you, and you’ve most likely seen a departed loved one out of the corner of your eye before. You have mental visions of possibilities, and you have the ability to put these intentions into action.
Your angels speak to you through mental images; signs that you witness with your physical eyes (anything that’s meaningful that you see); repeating number sequences (such as 111, 444, and so on); finding coins; seeing butterflies, birds, and colors around people; and other visual means. Trust these visions—they’re Heaven’s way of speaking to you!
Mostly “b” answers signify clairsentience. You interact with the world through your physical and emotional feelings. You’re highly sensitive and may have difficulty dealing with crowds, which can include driving on busy streets and freeways. You sometimes confuse others’ feelings for your own. You’re very compassionate, and often feel the pain of those around you (sometimes unknowingly). You may overeat or indulge in other addictions to deal with overwhelming feelings. You want to help others to feel happy, and may become a professional helper or form relationships with people who need assistance. You’ve been teased for being “too sensitive,” yet your sensitivity has made you a delicate receiving instrument for Heaven’s messages.
Your angels speak to you through your heart and body. You feel joy as an indicator that you’re on the right path; dread as a sign that changes and healing are necessary; and fatigue as a clue that you need to take time for rest, play, and self-care. You can tell whether a person is trustworthy or not, and your gut feelings are accurate. You feel air-pressure and temperature changes when communicating with the spirit world, can sense the presence of angels or departed loved ones, and sometimes feel angels brushing your skin or hair. Don’t write these sensations off as being “just feelings”—they’re how Heaven speaks to you!
Mostly “c” answers signify claircognizance. You’re an intellectual who receives direct communication through ideas and revelations. You often know facts (both trivial and important) without having read or heard anything about a particular subject before, as if God has downloaded the information directly into your brain. You’re not comfortable with small talk, and prefer deeper and more profound discussions. You may feel uneasy around people, except in one-on-one situations involving a subject of interest to you. You’re able to fix electronic and mechanical items without referring to instruction booklets, and you know how to heal people and situations, too. You’ve most likely been teased for being a “know-it-all.” You may be skeptical about angels and psychic abilities, unless you’ve had a dramatic lifesaving experience that you can’t explain away.
Your angels speak to you through wordless impressions that you receive in your mind. You’re able to mentally ask for information or help and receive it as Divine instructions that suddenly appear in your thoughts. You receive brilliant ideas for inventions, teachings, and businesses that shouldn’t be ignored. The “Aha” moments are clues to when you’re connecting with your angels. As a claircognizant, you tend to assume that your knowledge is common information. It isn’t—it’s Heaven’s way of answering your prayers and speaking to you!
Mostly “d” answers signify clairaudience. You’re very sensitive to noise, and you’re the first one to cringe at off-key notes or other unpleasant sounds. You can remember song melodies in much the same way that someone with a photographic memory can recall material they’ve read. It’s best if you use earplugs when traveling, as sensitivity to noise makes it difficult for you to sleep or relax on airplanes and in hotel rooms. For the same reason, you avoid the first few rows at loud concerts. When you use alarm clocks, you prefer waking to soft music on the radio rather than loud buzzing sounds.Your angels speak to you with words that you hear inside or outside your mind. During emergencies, a loud voice outside of one ear warns you of danger. The voice of Heaven, unlike an auditory hallucination, is always loving, to the point, and inspiring—even when it asks you to do something heroic, or function beyond what you believe are your capacities. You’re likely to hear celestial music and your name being called in the morning. Don’t worry that you’re making it up, even if it sounds like your own voice. As long as the voice is loving and asks you to improve a situation, it’s Heaven’s way of speaking directly to you!
Spiritual Intuitive Experience
What does a spiritual intuitive experience? Spiritual intuitives draw their strength through the intangible world. They prefer to soar in the cosmos rather than live in the physical world. Spiritual intuitives also: quickly immerse themselves in bliss and ecstasy have no planned agenda, goal or destination live a rich dream life experience precognitive dreams and visions How does a spiritual intuitive impact those around them? Spiritual intuitives encourage us to live outside of the mundane. They remind us that a rich spiritual world exists that can be experienced. They also: can communicate with the spirit world on our behalf perform energy work such as Reiki and healing touch assist us with deep trances, toning and chanting What are the pitfalls of being a spiritual intuitive? Living in the physical world can almost be an agony for spiritual intuitives. They have difficulty performing day-to-day tasks such as paying bills and tracking time. They long to live outside of the mundane and find it hard to connect at a tangible level. As a result they can experience the following physical ailments: mercurial episodes of extreme ecstasy to despair and indifference escapism addictions to alcohol and drugs headaches and dizziness thyroid and glandular issues How can a spiritual intuitive stay healthy and well balanced? Spiritual intuitives need to employ a lot of grounding techniques so as not to get lost in the cosmos. To avoid feeling lonely and lost, they do well seeking out a spiritual leader and becoming part of a spiritual community. Yoga, message therapy and healing touch can also help balance their energy. Making the most of being a spiritual intuitive Spiritual intuitives often have a hard time understanding why they exist in the physical realm, and it makes it hard for them to connect to people. However, when they are able to ground themselves, they are able to take people into the spiritual realm. They enhance our lives by showing us the beauty and mysteries of other realms, lifting us out of the mundane and into the heavens.
How To Read An Aura
Surrounding all living things is an energy field that is called the Aura. It is a radiant glow of many colors which can be seen surrounds all living things. Connecting the aura to the human body are seven vital centers called the Chakras which serve different physical and spiritual functions. Each center possesses its own vibration and purpose.
To see an Aura with the naked eyes is the most difficult means to perceive an Aura. The simplest and most accurate way to interpret an Aura is through the intuition. You only need to “guess” at what colors you may be “seeing” on yourself or others to identify the correct color radiation.
By using you inner knowing, gently “feel” the energy. If the energy were a color, what would it be? Your intuition knows what colors your Aura is giving off at any given time. The colors will also change as you experience various emotional states. Now look at the colors in the picture to the right and ask your unconscious mind which color you feel most drawn to in this moment? Which color do you feel that you are lacking?
Now find out what your given color says about your present state of mind:
THE BASE CHAKRA (Muladhara)
The first of the seven major centers is located at the coccyx at the base of the spine and it is usually called the root or base centre… Its associated element is earth and it corresponds to the sense of smell, physical energy and vitality. Here also, say the yogis, sleeps the magic serpent known as the kundalini. It lies coiled at the base of the spine and symbolizes the basic evolutionary life force. Once awakened it will rise through the spine to the crown of the head and may trigger enlightenment in the practitioner of these methods.
For our purposes, imagine the root center as your grounding or primary energy source. This is the center we can turn to if we need physical strength. The color for this center is red.
THE COLOR RED
If this was the color you chose then you’re probably at low ebb at the moment and you need to raise your energy levels. Athletes often have red auras as it’s the color of physical fitness. So if you feel a lack of this color, then a little exercise may be just the energizer you need. Alternatively, if you feel this color expresses how you are feeling now, then perhaps you need to calm down a little- we’ve all heard of “seeing red” when angry. In this instance, one could change the vibration by visualizing the opposite color green, which is calming
EXERCISE: Draw universal power to this red base center. Let it shine with a brilliant red light infusing the whole body with strength and stamina. Those of you who enjoy sporting activities or about to expend a lot of physical or sexual energy may draw upon the red light of this spiritual center and your performance may be enhanced. Once you’ve felt the benefit allow the center to quiet down and close.
THE SACRAL CHAKRA (Svadishana)
The second centre is found just below the navel and is called the Sacral Center. It is linked with the adrenals and the release of adrenaline into the body. Its element is water and if this center is out of balance your ‘flight or flight’ response may be over active. This center also has a cleansing function by filtering out negative influences. Its color is orange
THE COLOR ORANGE
Orange controls the area of the aura around the spleen which psychics consider to be the cleansing and distributor centre. A lack of orange in the aura means that you may need a good emotional tonic. You need stimulation, perhaps go out and enjoy yourself socially and feel your vitality return
EXERCISE: Imagine that the world is awash with light and now draw this energy into your sacral center. The center illuminates with a bright orange light and then fills the whole body with purity and calm. Its healing energy will restore your poise and re-establish your sense of balance and harmony.
THE SOLAR PLEXUS (Manipura)
The next center is found just below the breastbone and is called the Solar Plexus center. It is linked to the digestive system, the pancreas liver and stomach. Its associated element is fire. This center is our psychic battery and the storehouse of our positive energy. Also it is the link between the mind and the emotions and the area we process negative feelings. An imbalance here can lead to ‘butterflies’ and digestive disorders. The color of the Solar Plexus Center is yellow.
THE COLOR YELLOW
Associated with the area around the solar plexus, yellow auric light controls the digestive processes of the body and the intellectual faculties of the logical mind. You may have been working too hard at work or concentrating too hard on a decision. Yellow is also an optimistic color, like golden sunshine, stop worrying and think positive – everything will be all right.
EXERCISE: Imagine now that yellow light is being drawn into your body though this center. Follow the process for opening the center and draw yellow light through your solar plexus. By doing this you will transmute your negative feelings and become more peaceful within. Also, this center is the source of the creative energies. Artists, inventors and inspired people in general would benefit by doing this technique prior to starting a creative or new project.
THE HEART CENTER (Anahata)
In the center of the chest is the heart center. This is linked to the thymus and controls the immune system. It is the seat of the ‘higher or deeper’ emotions such as love, tenderness, compassion and honesty. The energies from this center affect the heart, lungs, upper chest, back and bronchial tubes. Its element is air and its designated color is green.
THE COLOR GREEN
A need for nature’s color means that you are seeking peace and harmony. Green is associated with the area around the heart and a need for this color indicates that you would benefit from relating to your innermost feelings. Express yourself and seek the restorative power of Nature…
EXERCISE: Pull energy in the form of light into this center. Feel it come alive with bright, vibrant green light infusing your body with healing energy. Notice how soothing this color is. It makes you feel at harmony with yourself. The heart center is the seat of compassion and unconditional love. Feel the warm embrace of the love that is inherent in all things. Love is the breath of life. Give yourself the green light to feel good about you.
THE THROAT CENTER (Visuddha)
The next center is found at the top of the throat and its designated color is blue. If blue is your given color then you need to draw light into this center. Its element is Ether and its traditional correspondence is with self-expression through thoughts, writing and speech. It is linked to the thyroid gland which controls metabolic rate. It also influences the throat, ears, nose, mouth and neck.
THE COLOR BLUE
Healers often have a blue color in their aura. A lack of this color means that you need to slow things down a little- concentrate on letting your body and mind find their natural harmony. If you’ve been over-excited lately, try relaxing with some music or just putting your feet up. Blue is the ideal color to work with if you need to give or receive healing energy.
EXERCISE: By drawing brilliant light energy into this center it will improve your communication and auditory skills. It might be beneficial to work with this center when doing any activities involving sound such as talking, or listening to music. On a subtle level working with this centre increases your mediumistic powers and in particular clairaudience- the ability to hear spirit communication. The Tibetans lamas worked with this centre to trigger out of body travel during the dream state. If you imagine a blue light at the throat centre which floods the back of the brain as you are about to fall asleep it may help you to experience lucid dreaming.
THE FOREHEAD CENTER (Ajna)
The spiritual journey of the inner light now brings us to the sixth center which lies in the center of the forehead. This is often given the nickname of ‘the third eye’, it is found above and between the eyebrows and is linked to the pituitary and pineal glands. This is the seat of higher consciousness and spiritual powers. Telepathy, clairvoyance, and precognition are generated by this center and it also controls the body’s eyes, nerves, head and brain. The associated color is a deep indigo.
THE COLOR INDIGO
Indigo auric light is connected with psychic abilities. You may enjoy taking an interest in the paranormal or Extra Sensory Perception. Your attention wants to turn inwards. Perhaps you could understand yourself better if you wrote down your dreams and interpreted what they are trying to tell you. This is a time of contemplation and renewed self-awareness. A time to listen and receive guidance from the inner self.
EXERCISE: Draw light into the center of the forehead. By imagining a brilliant indigo light in the center of your forehead, you will trigger your intuitive powers. Ideas may come to you, and simple solutions to problems could become apparent when you draw upon this energy. This is the center to work with when imaginative skills are needed.
THE CROWN CENTER (Sahasrara)
The goal of the light’s journey from the base of the spine upward is to the top of the head. Normally known as the crown centre this is the seat of the soul. As with the third eye centre this centre also is linked to the pituitary and pineal glands. It is associated with the perfection of mind, body and spirit. Its designated color is violet but in reality this centre is a mass of shimmering lights and colors from the whole visual spectrum and beyond. We can trigger this centre by filling it with pure light and like a fountain its light cascades through your body uniting you with your core spiritual values.
THE COLOR VIOLET
This is the spiritual color. If you feel that this color is the color your aura needs, then now may be the time to start a spiritual discipline. So forget your material worries for a while and focus on the higher things in life and find a deepening of your inner stability and harmony. I have noticed that the aura of vegetarians often has a violet hue. Dietary consideration may therefore be of importance.
THE COLOR BROWN
Usually the brighter hues that are seen by psychics in the aura. You are probably drawn to brown for psychological reasons. Brown is a strong color- the color of the Earth. You would benefit most by concentrating on practical solutions to life’s problems. You may need grounding or centering.
THE COLOR BLACK
Black is the absence of light. It can act as a protective shield around the aura if you’re feeling over sensitive. It will seal you from negative vibrations. On the other hand, you also may feel that your aura is lacking in color. You don’t need more black, you need brightening up a bit. Imagine that you radiate a rainbow of lights all around your body and you’ll soon feel your spirits rise. Color can help lift depression.
THE COLOR WHITE
Purity is implied by white. It is the color of spiritual energy. If this is the color you feel your aura needs, then you may be seeking divine inspiration. Re-establish your contact with your core beliefs. “Know thyself” as the saying goes. Have you been taking life a bit too seriously perhaps? Humor and laughter are God’s best medicine. How about a funny video or book to cheer you up?
